prolly would be better to just make a new texture map for it. take the normal into PS make a cavity map from it with NDO or the xnormal plugins and level it till it is black and white.
Look up the ls800 can be upgraded to Win7 and 2 gigs of ram.. heard from some artists that its actually not bad for PS work on the go. cheap as hell also
http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/ Also tried the vectorizer in XaraExtrem and Inkscape, but they introduce to much "noise" But if you are just trying to get the same effect it might be possible to do the same with a PS filter...
Dropyhop, looks like the patterns which materials are based on is gone... could you try to reset your PS preferences? Save anything beforehand that might get lost by doing this!
Sketched few heads as a live demo for my students. Just some simple generic alien heads, but they are always fun to do. Zbrush sketch as a base, then quickly overpainted in PS.
Not crazy about the dark shader. It's bringing the color to almost black and you're losing a lot of detail imo. ps... told ya she should hold onto the cloth :p
Google put some money towards getting PS cs2 and 3 to run better in WINE recently, so that's pretty cool as well. Still, it's far from ideal obviously.
Indeed, there are people on ZBrushCentral (boozy_floozie for example) who make illustrative art entirely in ZBrush (with maybe a small amount of PS touch-ups here and there), try doing that stuff in Mudbox ;)
Cool stuff I was just watching my roomate play it last night. He was in awe of the art in the game. Definately top notch stuff. ps: thats a LOT of weapons.
