Your work isn't as bad as you probably think it is. Just watch out for objects intersecting unnaturally, like the struts poking through the roof or the vegetables with the bench (and each other), it makes them appear unreal. Colouring would appear more natural with shadows too.
i made some progress on this environment, still lots of work to do and many things to fix though. i tried to add more variation overall and tone down the crazy colors, also added some more props and vegetation and some far away buildings.
Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial, it looks great! Can't wait to test it out on my own :D More vegetation stuff would be sweet too, I always love seeing how everyone goes about making trees/plants. Thanks again!
@FreneticPonies thanks for the feedback! I did another vegetation overhaul, i think it looks a bit better. I also worked on the lighting and atmosphere. I'm about to call this done. There are places i could improve on , but i think it's time to move on. Here are the final screens.
Here is my model so far for a green house I am making. I haven't created vegetation for it yet, I want to nail the the building down first. I am still adding a few more props and broken glass in, and I am open to any suggestions or ideas you guys may have. Josh
Hello everyone! In this topic I want to show you my process of making Venice UE4 Scene. This is my variation of Vencie place, where you can find few buildings, little market with vegetables and fruits and church (darker blocks in blockout). Please feel free to give some feedback! ;) Few blackout screenshots:
Great improvement on the rocks! I never understood what was so special about the polish brush though. I prefer TrimDynamic. Are those rocks under the lone red tree one big mesh, several stacked? Now it's time to put some vegetation on the ground! 8)
Goof stuff Jordan, as always. I feel like there need to be a greater color depth to the vegetation, the leafy bushes tend to desaturated at the top, which doesn't contrast well with the already grey surroundings. Not sure that's the root of it, but some glorious touches of color could pump this up significantly.
Today I made a skybox, played around a little with the vegetation and added red flowers. The next thing I'm gonna do is fix the tree, me thinks. I'm also considering the idea of lowering the island down into water, instead of floating around randomly, but I'm not sure.
Hey, the results look pretty good already! I am super interested in this technique (I even wrote my bachelor thesis about how to scan vegetation with this technique) and would love to hear more about your process. Especially your "cheap" scan setup :)
