i have a solution for u my friend, theres a modifier called surface. which takes ur splines and try to create quads. only thing is that for each vertex u gota create a curve (which is the red one in ur diagram) basically u gota create a cage for your mesh.
In regards to the heat shield, I've extruded some faces outward to create thickness but in modo it creates open edges where as in maya I can extrude a face to create a solid box I wonder if anyone can help me with this? Also how would I low poly somthing like this?

You'd create a set of tileable textures to work with - it would be difficult and largely pointless to create an entire building in Mixer as there's not enough texture resolution to properly display a building with only 4k or 8k pixels to work with.
