Thanks, Nothing too spectacular, just using 2 repeating rock textures with vertex blending. I'll see about documenting the process a little more in my sketchbook once I get a look I'm happy with.
second try at the rock texture... thanks for the feedback in the last one. I think this gone got more 'rocky' but the normal map totally rapes the diffuse, its very strong... it looked nice in zbrush.. I think :(
Here is something I am working on. I still need to add some fine details like rocks, logs, and the supports for the dock. Also planning on a couple chairs for the inbreds to sit on when playing the banjo on the porch:)
ParoXum, The lighting in the shadows looks really flat Get some blue fill lights in there. You should also add more terrain layers and some smaller objects on the terrain. Maybe some color variation on the rocks with vertex painting.
Amazing portraits Art-Machine ! I've started an UT3 scene with the rocks I made last couple of days. There's three assets, one flat, one corner, one 360 with more unique details, here's a small quicky canyon:
Looks good to me, Sampson. Wish I could do cliffs/rocks like you do, when I try they end up looking like simple lumps of color, especially if I try to paint it in Photoshop with a Wacom.
really cool warby, only crit is it the texture doesnt really read like rock. The shading and texture are great, but the colors make it look more like cheese mountain than a rocky mountain. Either way looks really tight.
Been kind of a slow day today but I am currently working on a challenge and level for class (trying to merge the two).Just a quick rock prop I thought turned out pretty cool and I thought I would share.
why nobody has told you this is awesome yet is beyond me. it rocks mate, the only crit i really have is that i'd give him a longer tail, and probably try to make him hunch more. but other than that it's spot on.
ParoXum: Try adding some more rocks along the path. Maybe some old rusted oil drums or an abandoned vehicle left to rot away. Some type of wooden bridge over the top crossing over. Perhaps some bones and a crazy skeleton?
