     I was thinking about buying an Asus laptop ($500 - $600) and was wondering if anyone has any experience with one? Is it a good brand? The kid at Best Buy told me they are one of the best brands and I was a bit surprised to hear that. I always thought Dell was good, but I was misinformed I guess.

     My big obstacle was the hardware and the money. I needed to waste too much money to work decently... but well the time-frame was 1995-2007. Nowadays with just 600€ i can buy the PC i need. Being old sucks.

     Importing a 16bit .tif from xnormal seems bugged at the moment. It shows up much darker than it actually is (not an sRGB problem). Converting the normal map to 8bit tif or tga works. I swear 16bit worked fine in 201/202?

     I live and been working in MTL my whole life, 45k is a Junior salary.For 8years of experieces, as you said, is low. A standard offer for your level will be 2-3week vacation and at least 55-60K. This is standard for mid to AAA studio.

     Try changing it to .001 and 10000 for each view then save pref. edit: save preferences is under file Also select the plane and frame selection ( f ) as well, sometimes thats all it takes when maya starts getting buggy for me.
