Just finished this personal project. Original concept by Claire Hummel. Visit my artstation for more high res views! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/RW6DD Modeled and textured in Zbrush, retopo'd in Maya, fur done using XGEN, and rendered in Renderman 21. Final edits done in Photoshop.
Some updates on the Buffalo/Bison beast creature. The eye colour is adjustable in Substance. The fur was made in part with Xgen (the larger bottom chunk) and Interactive groom, I found that using splines is quicker, but Interactive gave me a lot more hands-on control.
WIP Hi world, this is my Yakuza artwork, which I developed during my participation in the ArtStation challenge "Neo Tokyo: Exponential Reality" in the Film/VFX Character Art category (rendered). This experience was incredibly exciting and allowed me to navigate the entire 3D pipeline, from likeness sculpting, modeling, and…
Really nice likeness man, nice work. Did you follow any specific tutorials for the skin rendering itself? I've done the Tom Newbury rendering tutorial in Arnold and Xgen but I still get some problems when it comes to the SSS etc.
Cleopatra CG Character. Cleopatra is a personal project. Design was artistically developed without any claim to historical truth. For sculpting I used ZBrush, for hairs Maya xgen interactive grooming tools. For rendering Arnold. More on Artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3oRw4J Follow me also on…
Háu kola! Allow me to introduce my latest character, The American. She was sculpted with Zbrush and retopo was done in Maya with Quad Draw. Texturing.xyz was used for the skin details and texture projection using Mudbox. Xgen was used to generate the hairs and Arnold for rendering. Breakdown images are on my Artstation…
Loads of plugins and info on yt. Making hair is a bit fiddly. Some of the plugs: xgen, ornatrix, hair tool. Im using Hair Tool for Blender atm and its really very good. I'm also going to have to put it in UE4. There are loads of vids on that.
@RabidRabit - Thanks a lot for the support Nathan! :) @m00k - Thanks kindly :) @rollin - You make a good point, I appreciate the feedback. ;) @kanga - It is cards, I used xgen in Maya to create my hair textures and then Blender to lay the cards out. @JohannesAg - Thanks Johannes!
Did Some (WIP) VRay Test Renders after re-doing the grooming in Maya using Xgen. Thank you for the help (Nexferoh) check out his twitch page or (Artstation) for some awesome content when streaming. Will be starting the low-poly fur soon.
i think it's fair to say there is no quick solution to make anything to a high standard. ;) for hair generation you could look into getting a head start with fibermesh or perhaps ornatrix and xgen though. it will not save you from managing lots of hairplanes and hand tweaking them though.
