We're planning on releasing 3.07 soon, it will included some Python updates and minor bug fixes. We don't have specific plans for ray tracing currently, but it's something we're excited about, so it is possible that it could be added in a future update.
WIP, been working on some Python scripts to speed up my workflow and reworked the shading network. Also been thinking about the color value/tones and im personally preferring the red body and blue 'eyes'. Hope y'all like!
This is one of the things that frustrate me well regarding the fact that you gotta launch the program with you're library unless you fileIn every script at the start to import a library. Though hopefully with the implementation of python this might be better :) @Monster: Ah awesome.
Is there a way to manipulate the ray tracing attributes of the Render object from the Python API in Toolbag 4? I've been scripting some pipeline tools but most render settings don't seem to be documented and poking at the object itself hasn't yielded anything that looks like it could alter those settings. Is this simply…
Hi, edX has some nice courses starting nowadays. They are not about game art but I think some technically inclined polycounters can find them useful. Foundations of Computer Graphics Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python Also, it would be great if people shared their edX experiences. It's my first…
Could you explain what you're trying to do? You're trying to read geometry objects from a file and creating curves from their vertices? Is it a requirement to use Python? I think MEL could be more simple (here's a guide on MEL and MaxScript).
As a tech artist Max 2017 is very feature rich. MCG modifier and animation controllers are the start of something amazing. After a couple of years of weak python support it's finally ready for prime time. Geodesic voxel binding for the skin modifier works great.
Thanks for the feedback. Custom folders are not possible to add to the library at this time. This is something we'll consider adding in a future version. You can save materials as well as smart materials to the library system. To save a new material, create a material from the material editor and drag it into the library.…
Even in that situation, the important part isn't really knowing Houdini in particular, it's understanding procedural asset creation. Someone who is skilled in making procedural assets in other ways (like through Python scripting within Maya, or by writing tools for use within the game engine) is also gonna have a pretty…
If someone is a technical rigger, then their future employer will want to see what they are capable of achieving from scratch. Are they strong in melscript/python? Creative with their solutions? Their value is shown by how well they incorporate the ideas/requests, from their co-workers, into the rigs they build for them.…
