Thanks for the crits guys! really appretiated, ill have some more progress soon! Glad some of you guys like it. Im pretty determined to get this finnished over the next week! so progress will be more frequent. Im having some problems with decals in the SDK at the moment, it seems to have a default spec that I cant alter…
You've got a couple of options for small details. A: Model and bake them along with the main model. Z-Brush, subD whathave you. You can either model them into the main model (difficult) or model a smaller portion where these details are, conform it to the main model, then sculpt just that patch. B: Make a greeble/decal…
Looking sweet so far! Like the texture work :D Maybe the pipe and the dial on the pump could see some more decay? Those two just really stood out to me visually. Keep at it!
So that road is amazing, very nice work! But what are the ruins supposed to be? What was the building's original purpose, how did it decay over time? Right now it looks like a bunch of arbitrary arches sitting there.
I've actually been thinking of starting another thread where people could upload pictures of natural decay etc. from their areas. Not sure if another thread is needed or if this thread would suffice though.
@cfey Thanks! I used MD to sim the cloth on the bed but its difficult to fold it under like in the concept. especially if it has more than one side. I think I will probably end up simulating it, then moving it with FFD then sculpting in ZBrush to get an accurate result @Tzur_H Keep up the good work man, It's looking much…
F_X what do you want to say with that? I did not see any similarity to your mod with other previous work from you. I understand that point in a way for authors like, don't make your work similar with other users work , i.e don't copy another user pattern for a skin etc etc. On the other hand if you reference to decals ,…
All right, had time today to get this thing going. The vertex paint is the way I'm going to do it. As you can see by the screenshot (definitely not final textures, just a TEST!!!), works fairly well with diffuse textures, so it should work fine with normals as well. I'll be using a 256 x 512 tiled texture for the main body…
Thanks again for the crits guys, still hammering away at this. Here's where I am right now: I decided to step away from vertex painting and go with a more clean/stylistic look, although I am planning on adding decals for water damage and such particularly near where the water meets the buildings. I've been having a weird…
If you're inexperienced, particularly in terms of traditional drawing I'll suggest reading comments I had offered on a couple of similarly aligned posts from people seeking guidance where to begin: Starting to learn to draw, i feel lost from start, how to start. (scroll to 4th reply) Some help getting started (scroll to…
