Jessica, if big companies are your goal to work for, it seems that companies are outsourcing their props more and more. Might want to cut out Prop Artist, and just market yourself as Environment. Up to you though.
I want real life raids , I will gladly go there in full plate mail and bash the crap out of some foreign outsourcing team that.......er I mean some Horde Park Workers....
yep, i'll chuck a resume straight in the bin if there's constant switches of a year or less. You can be the world's greatest artist but it's irrelevant if you're just going to fuck off again, that's what contracters and outsourcing are for
Hmm well that sucks, I'm suck looking for an entry level job or some sort of intership ... Whats this outsourcing company run by teachers? Which AI are u talking about? the one in fort lauderdale?
10 months in outsourcing - extremely varied and fun projects, lots of learning opportunities. It is demanding, and sometimes there are hard crunch times, still a lot of fun, and I rarely feel like doing work work :)
I honestly had no idea who that is, much less that he did any concept work for Borderlands. I didn't interface with outsourcing at all though, so my guess is that he was a contract artist(?).
I'm in the process of outsourcing the creation of a 3d character with multiple lods (1 for mobile, 1 for pc / consoles) and I'm wondering if the same rig and animations can be applied to both of these LODs of the character. Is there anything I need to watch out for?
Lets not forget how easy/cheap it would be to outsource this entire project to India or China :) . I'd rather pay lots more for great artists to continue to be able to thrive in a shakey industry. So I do!
We've worked with them for a long time and they've hired tons of artists during that time. Outsourcing is more the norm these days so I don't think you have to take that into consideration when applying somewhere.
i use this one http://u3d.as/content/m2h/localization-package/1Ya a Google docs spreadsheet-based solution proved very useful for outsourcing translations, especially with low cost services like fiverr
