Nice model, I thought the concept was sci-fi, looks like a cross between a Desert Eagle and the Magnum Python from Resident Evil 1. Must be pretty painfull to be shot by this bugger, what's the caliber?
Was using Tr3b's python scripts for blender, but they didn't load anything just stopped at a point in code. Same thng with max 8 scripts. I guess I try to find some Blender guys. - eRat
It is possible to launch painter with python, update resources and re-export maps but it's not entirely straightforward. It should in theory be possible to run the process over a network too but I've not tried that yet. I've not got the details in front of me but a google should reveal all and failing that you ask…
I wish they did, it'd simplify matters dramatically. There seems to be a distinct disconnect between the painter team's goals and the goals of the designer/SAT teams. Painter is an arse to integrate cleanly into a pipeline - massive binary files, not using python for scripting etc. Do not make for happy tech artists
So with the new steam activation in the latest version, I can't call IPackThat via subprocess in Python with an .fbx filepath as the argument to have IPackThat load the specified FBX file... I can call IPackThat.exe alone (with no argument) and it loads and works, but calling it with the file breaks. Is this a known issue?
You can just open it with a text editor and copy and paste the code. Sorry I wasn't sure how to save it so that others could just add it to the shelf. I'm just starting to learn python coding for maya, so that will be something I will have to look into. Sorry for the inconvenience.
You can run SVN on webfaction - they're more dev friendly than Dreamhost, although they may not have 1 click installers. They also have Redmine and other useful development tools there. I moved there from Dreamhost because it was just a hassle to host my Python projects.
JackKnife Here is a 2.8.0 keymap in case you want one It's not exactly the same, but navigation should be. (the code marked red in my original post is the python API call to setup keyboard controls, once you figure out how to set a key binding, the rest should be easy)
That's what's known as an Iterator. It's an inbuilt function that cycles through all the parts of an array: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iterator the same thing in python looks like this: mylist = [1, 2, 4, 56, 6, 7, 34, 99]
