Without repeating any of the above, Go on website such as Cghub or Conceptart.org, Find something you like, make it. Trip, fall, stumble along the way and see where you went wrong. Then improve on it. -

Looks pretty fun... Can't afford the time or money to go, but usually these sorts of events are pretty inspiring. Reminds me of the early Conceptart.org workshops...learned more in 4 days at one of those than in a year at artschool. -
