After several days of being out of town, I have returned home to finish the high-poly and bake the normals and lighting maps into the base mesh. I increased the base mesh's tri-count from 992 to 3840 after realizing that I would lose a lot of detail in the bake unless I gave myself more tris to work with. Next up, Diffuse…
http://books.google.com/books/serial/nRN263ekdaIC?rview=0&lr=&sa=N&start=990 Google Books has a HUGE library of Popular Science magazines from 1925-2009 If you search you can dig up issues from 1872... The search feature can also be used to search through the issues, pretty handy for digging up detailed images of crazy…
Photoshop CS4 is $699 US, £615 in the UK and €813 in the Netherlands/Belgium, which is at todays exchange rate $1024, $1222 respectively. Adobe (and others) are hiking prices negatively to which people earn within their relative gross national income. Apart from it being stupid to say the least, already withstanding the…
Thanks! Fingers crossed, I think there are a lot of submissions this year. I put mine in a day before the deadline and my reference number was 3999! Been doing a few particle effect bits today :D Let me know what you think. @Fenyce: I see what you mean about the grass, I have added it too my fix list :D Thanks for the crit.
Hey folks! I'm actually getting kind of stuck on the art side of the game. I dunno if the low-poly smooth gradient look is interesting enough. Like, if you'd payed 4.99-9.99 dollars for a game like this would you be happy with the graphical fidelity? :s I dunno, just getting a bit doubtful. I'd love if anyone had some…
Normals should always be imported with override at 1.0 in a linear workflow using gamma correction. I would override the spec and gloss maps if present. You don't really want them to be gamma corrected since they are only greyscale maps. If your using vray heres a nice "how to making of" guide:…
Asheron's Call. That game was awesome back in the day (1999), but its still running. Its the way MMOs should be. Open world, skill based/no classes, no elves or dwarves or any of that. :) Everything you kill drops randomized loot. You can also loot chests and get loot from quests but the very best stuff is usually from…
killingpeople: Yeah the sliding was was added to put distance between him and the girl; to give her time to dive for a rifle and take a shot. jzero: The detonator was in the storyboard and no one ever questioned it until it was too late. Also, if a character needs his own timing I at least make sure the character has full…
Yo KMan, Mario Cart was rocking, I love the rounded courses and the animations are crazy. I am also hoping to get a bid on Asteroids a GBA Color game from 1999, plus has the original Asteroids built in the game. I loved retro Asteroids, I once spent nearly 50.00 U.S. bucks on an all night Asteroids arcade playing binge!…
I created a blueprint actor and added the Hierachical Instanced static mesh. I choose my model. Within the blueprint viewport and within the heirachical instance static mesh i added a few to the Instances array element. When I rotated my piece I noticed that even though I had the rotation snap on it wouldnt be exactly 90…
