I am so intrested in handpainted stuff. I love this style. The colors are just great, and what fun looking items youve made so far One thing i might do though is just make the eyes glow on the sword.Not sure if your game engine supports it.
Daaamn Milly, your handpainted stuff is rad - I also thought it was just a painting at first. Did you model these characters too? Will they be rendered with flat lighting for the final presentation? Looks like Runescape has changed quite a bit since I was 10 yrs old.... Keep it up :)
Really cool chainmail Arvin. As you asked a feedback on the rocks. Might just be my opinion but the idea of "handpainted" would be more to the fact that they are naturally painted ;) Maybe if you add some kind of effect of brush strokes that would help. Also some edging breakup would also add.
I think that Allegorithmic are doing a great job on Painter. We are looking at version 1.0 here and I think it's a very solid release. Pretty sure they are aware of the "handpainting" needs of us game artists. They are listening to responses and thoughts so let them know what you want/need.
If I remember correct there is an BL2 Art Dump in this forum and some of the Gearbox guys told something about there workflow. They use indeed normal maps at their models (including high poly sculpts) but they make heavy use of handpainted "scripts" so you can't really see the normal map at all. :)
Open for commissions. Illustrations/Animations of characters, objects and whole environments within various styles offered. Be it vector, pixel or handpainted art. Fun class project for lighting and rendering utilizing trim sheets with some unique props, loosely based off of Leroy Steinmann's dwarven temple sketch, and added some warcraft flavor to it.
