i tried it again with normals and geometry both selected, and left the backface culling on. after i cleaned up there were a dozen or more faces selected. i didn't delete them this time, but i have tried cleaning up several times before and i deleted them everytime then, i guess that could have messed things up a lot too?…
Suppose you build a skeleton upside down. The skeleton has a root joint at 0, 0, 0 with its rotation and orient set to 0, 0, 0 as well. Then you put the rest of the skeleton into some pose. How do you flip that skeleton right side up without modifying the transformation values on any of the joints? The root joint must…
*Edit* Just going to do some geo switcheroo. Drop the original panel below the floor via it's joint, and then pop in the physics sym panel to complete the effect. Hey all, I'm in the midst of a pretty last minute/hail Mary art test and and in dire need of help. I write this as I am parenting my model... I'm burning the…
Create your mesh, Duplicate it - I used "MyMesh" and "DeformedMesh" Select all the he edges of MyMesh and run Edge To Spline command. That will make a spline object of you edges. Now in the Character menu choose Conversion | Convert Spline to Joints. This gives you a load of joints in a hierarchy, select them all and in…
This will definitely help. I'll start trying right now. First, I see your cage has the same smoothing groups as the original model. After reading some information online, I was worried this could be a problem. Looks like it isn't. I'll try a bake right now in xnormals. If it comes out clean (and I really hope it does) I…
Just to add to that, here's some more notes I made in a separate text file that aren't sorted, and probably isn't as helpful, but maybe you'll still find them useful: elements = shells For move/rotate/scale hold W/E/R and lmb to bring up the manipulators marking menu if part of a mesh is deleted via edges the resulting geo…
The licensing is written to unpartioned parts of the hard deive. There's no way to remove that without formatting. Other than that you can use the Autodesk Uninstall tool to get everything off you system. It's what we use in the beta program to clear our versions.
We are creating a game with customisable avatars, and monsters which share a common body but have different accessories. Each monster is made up of four separate meshes: Body - this is the main mesh that is shared through all the monsters, with only textures being swapped Accessories - a mask, a shoulder accessory and a…
Day 11 Mostly a technical day. The goal was to set the UE4 project and get a simple driveable vehicle. I used my previous project - Modular Vehicle - as a base for this project to speed up things. I'm planning to use layered materials and use Substance Painter mostly for drawing masks to save a reasonable amount of memory.…
That frustration is common early on. Espcially when you're learning and experimenting. Once you settle on a series of methods you will find it's a lot more stable. Sometimes when you remove something, parent/unparent, put it in a group or take it out, it's transforms get all screwed up and you might not notice it because…
