it looks like a family size mini cooper and whats the deal with the offset speedometer panel... how does that help? I'm biased, though, I really never liked the new trend towards boxy cars... the scions being the poster children of that movement
Not to sound biased or like I'm sucking up, but you deserve that first place. your's is bar none the best one I can see. Don't you get a free copy of the hl2 expantion Aftermath? or do you get some dough?
You have someunique colors/style. It reflects in your modeling. Looks great to me. I'd love to see some more of your textures. I really love seeing hand painted textures, but maybe I am biased as primarily a 2d artist. :)
Maybe i'm biased because i loved the comics. But the Guardians of the Galaxy comics read very differently to other marvel comics too. They're quite slapstick humour in a lot of places, and i think they're trying to carry that same attitude over to the movie.
Yeah, plus 3D preview with realtime edits, cage sculpting, skew correction, etc. Toolbag is pretty cool, but I'm biased obviously. =P There's a couple live link plugins for Substance tools in our add-on library: https://marmoset.co/toolbag/add-ons/
Over on conceptartempire.com, there's a bunch of publications too sift through... And one particular book to look out for is 'Character Design From The Ground Up' by Kevin Crossley. Though not specifically biased towards game art but more of an agnostic perspective moving between 2D & 3D.
That udk vs crysis comparison is not a very good one, daylight vs night time, characters vs landscape. Im not biased either way, but I think its very hard to do a comparison when you dont have the same scene setup.
Looking cool! The added atmosphere and texture changes for the trees are making so much of a difference, great improvements. You might also want to consider blending the shoreline a bit more, maybe using depth-biased alpha or just some transitional textures painted in.
Again, it's all a biased poll, since as I said, older people or more professional people (school teachers, oil rig workers, bank accountants, etc) aren't exactly going to be sitting on their arse all day long and voting on some digital poll.
The render quality isn't due to the laptop performance if it's rendered in unbiased (bucket) way. In this case, If the laptop performance isn't enough, it will simply not render at all. Only if it gets rendered in biased or progressive way that the performance may interfere. What software are u using as a renderer?
