That scout is awesome! Christmas cheer has brought my productivity to a standstill. Finished this one up, and will get around to the rest asap. edit: Sorry, added specs and flats
Why no shading on the red stripe? You have all the shading on the rest of the pants, then the stripe is just a flat line? The head looks narrow and tall, like he's not human.
I say go with the first one, if only because the path is better defined. The flat lighting makes the colors and design stand out more, but everything sort of blends together.
I'd suggest trying it - with pixel brushes and some well-planned UV's you could easily squeeze that detail into 256^2 no probs. Got a shot of the wires/uv flats?
Troy is a character I have developed for my game IOS/Android app called 'Trolley Troy'. The character is the main playable character for the game. Textures are handpainted and flat lit in the engine.
haha yeah i agree, not enough contrast, it need more of that light and dark because it looks pretty flat. i'm sure you fix it up to look awesome though haha
Nobunny - I would add more shadowing under the straps on the skin. Perhaps on the skin just under the straps and not above. They just seem slightly flat for me. Other than that, I like the texture.
I love the style of this model, but you could definitely optimize the texture since its all a flat color, you only need a few pixels of each, and then some space for the text and the apple logo.
The result is really great! So, are they particles used in a game engine like Unity? They look like flat billboard planes with a transparent texture... How did you do the fake lighting you said?
