Mudbox is the most expensive unless you buy a non-commercial license which I think is about $299. This is the way I look at it: Silo= Cheap, effective modeler with sculpting. My only gripe with Silo is that you are not going to get the level of detail sculpting that you can get in Mudbox or ZB3.....but it is a dam good…
Hello fellow artists! I'm in a dead end and would greatly appreciate if someone can help. I have made a tree, where lower half is sculpted and unique texture is made for in Painter and upper half is not sculpted and would use a tilable texture. I also have 2 tree bark textures I'd like to blend between in UE4. One texture…
On Friday last week CGHUB launched their latest challenge titled 'Warriors', which is a sculpting challenge with a great bonus to all entrants. More info after the jump. The contest is a sculpting challenge, which all entrants are required to use Mudbox exclusively for sculpting, painting and rendering of their entries for…
Well, naturally modeling on its own is a pretty big pull. Modo's modeling tools are extremely good. Really just all of the tools are very smart in their design. Um lets see, the retopology tab gives you that 3d coat like retopology functionality, can be used in the normal modeling tab as well via the topology pen. Texture…
yes thats true @zetheros I feel it through the work. Basically 70% we are doing stuff they dont want to do, such as retopo,UV/udims ,baking with a lot of constrains. While they do sculptings and texturings, all that cool art stuff. We do like 30% art .But its decent salary and nice working time. But when people feel burned…
People use zB for a wide variety of purposes so pixologic have responded with tools to fit those needs. Having said that, you can also sculpt in Maya. I dont know what your requirements are but working strategically you might not need zB. You can also try both. Sculpt a tree in Maya and then try the same thing in a zB demo…
Week Fourteen Day 1- I watched some tutorials on different mapping and found one that’s simple to learn. I want the moss to appear on the rock’s top surface. Hey everyone, like the title says, planning on doing a dark forest themed throne. The throne itself will be a tree stump basically, not sure if I plan on putting some fantasy elements in but I might keep it more realistic. I'll be working on that after I finish the first tree. My idea is to create a modular tree, so I can…
Hello Everyone! This is my very first post on polycount and I can't wait to see how this goes. I am currently working on the Blizzard student art contest and here are some of the stuff I have. This has been a big learning process, because I have not tried hand painted or low poly stuff in the past. If there are any…
Tools are getting better and better and faster to work - which makes non-artist without artistic skills to create nice good looking 3d art. For example, 13 years ago when u needed body, u needed to sculpt it from scratch knowing anatomy, make textures, make shader, paint human skin (which was super hard) in order to get…
