Using someone else's art in your texture is a no-no. If you can't paint to that level of detail then try going with a retro 80's design. If this is just for learning and fun, then I guess it's fine. But if I came across this in your portfolio as an employer I would be put off.
Update Put together a pattern that I like. Got some lines, squares, and circles just like many of the retro panel screens have. Colors dulled down a bit. Now to make more variations of this pattern to make it all feel a bit more random.
thanks mmaclcolm for that article, I alwaysw love reading this retro stuff. Its a journey of art and technology over years Does anybody has similar stuff bookmarked? Like the Rebel Boat Rocker story? Xatrix stories. God I love´em all.
Love the clothing you model for your characters, got a reall cool kind of retro feel too it, dont see alot of portfolios with clothing like yours well done :D . Super inspiring thread man keep up the good work.
@Alia, Really nice artwork, I think that retro look is amazing. Here's an update on the Elder weapon, it's almost finished. Also some progress on a hoody design for my bloodstone blades, because they are still not ingame :p Well only for me :D
Hello everyone. I'm making a jetpack as a portfolio piece and I'm wondering what I could do for it to look better before I start with retopo. It's supposed to be a military retro jetpack. I might add a military radio, although I'm not sure where I should place it. Thanks in advance
Not sure if this has been posted yet, I just saw this on boingboing and thought I'd share. It's a set of cool retro-futuristic illustrations from Syd Mead that were given out by US Steel in the 1960s and have now made it onto Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mstoll/sets/72157603779992640/
That looks fantastic! Don't know whether you're going for an aged, beat up vintage machine, like something you'd find in a garage sale, or something all buffed and new looking, like a refurbished piece, but either way would look good. Love the retro colors :)
Congrats to you and the team! I thought you'd never leave R* Dan, looks like you've landed on your feet though!- looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with next :) Will give Pitfall a bash after work, loving the retro look to it
TUNES! Nice work on the support... but the record player would have been more retro :P (would predate the vehicle though). You gonna get some new keys made up? Those are looking pretty worn By "wiring complete", does that include the engine compartment?
