I think whats tough about characters is that you have to get it right in that one shot you have. Environment artists have the luxury of many repeat attempts to get each piece right within a scene. And you can repeat that in reverse. The thing thats easier about characters is that you only have to do one at a time,…
Thanks for the response @dyceus ! I will certainly be using the method you described for my labels, it should also work for adding extra leaks to the jar models. I am using surface translucency volume for the lighting mode, below is my glass trim material node set up if that's helpful. I changed a couple things and I think…
After the patch the game is more fun. But there are a lot of things that really bug me. So let me get this straight. I am playing as the black chick, and I have not found any guns in the game so far. I press Z to enter into "rage mode" or whatever the they call it, and all of the sudden she pulls out a gun and I am bustin…
I know this is a really old thread but I wanted to point out that depending on how the animation was setup, there's different ways you can do this fairly easily. The Move All Mode (Button that looks like a dot with a bent arrow coming out the top to the right) you can easily re-position the entire animation's origin.…
For those who dont know, you can get a full license of 3DCoat on Steam HERE. The reason I mention that is because during the upcoming summer sale, price will probably go down a to, I picked up my license for <50 bucks. If I didn't miss anything, you were working mostly on a single layer with no blending mode over all your…
AFAIK the euler tangent handles are just fake one - i think at the core the biped controllers still uses TCB. So you will see strange issues when using euler curves to manipulate biped keys. I simply would switch back to TCB and only use the euler mode if it's absolutely necessary. And i would prepare myself for future…
Quick update, hes retopod and unwrapped and i have started texturing but feel like im getting a bit stuck looking at it with the same eyes. I have tried to use green and purple tints on the skin to make the barbarian look cold so hopefully that comes across. Any paintovers or critique would be much appreciated. Also whats…
I use my tablet & pen for nearly all modeling and windows navigation at work. It's easier on the wrists, especially if you've ever had issues with CTS. Sadly, I have to use my mouse while working in Unreal. You can set the pen to mouse mode for UDK, as zwamneus pointed out, but it's really annoying when you go back and…
I use lattices (in the animation subset, delete history to remove it afterwards) often. Also, other non linear deformers are really helpful, especially the bend deformer if you have lots of pipes and stuff on your model. The sculpt polygon 'artisian' tool also comes in handy. Finally, check out the tutorial on…
Seems to me like you have vertices displaying always? I just helped one of my students who had Maya enabling this for all objects in a scene every time he would open a scene. We nuked the prefs since we couldn't figure any better solution. Anyway, select your model, Ctrl+A for the Attribute Editor, make sure you are…
