note sure if this is the right place to request this feature, but is it possible to get launch parameters, or a XML file that can control handplane. I would like to build a script allowing me to do handplane bakes from with in maya.

that script there is a huge troll face its not working at all /edit never mind i am just a noob it works great but the default color should not be black with 0 alpha ! default should not be something thats invisible !
If you have stuff mirrored you should probs offset the uvs of one of the halves +/- 1 in the or v direction. To do that, select your uv shell and enter "polyEditUV -U -1" in the command line or script editor.
sp0nge, i made a couple changes based on smoothing after reading your helpful tip,but im still trying to take a screenshot of the viewport...haha edit: i downloaded the Grab Viewport script and took one with that.
