Hey Guys, Quick question. I have a rig I need to sort out for a friend in Maya. It needs an FK system put into play so he can bake out for Unity. So as a quick fix I have duplicated the joints, put them in there own group and I am now looking to constrain the "bake out" skeleton to the rig... However all the joints are the…
I did a little research. You can add an action constraint to specific bones in Blender. You have to go into Pose mode, select the bone you want to affect the action in question, and then create the action constraint in the object panel. I know that relative vertex animations can be stored as actions, so you just have to…
Yeah that's not the behavior I see. Did you check the Help file? The video they have is pretty instructive. https://help.autodesk.com/view/MAYAUL/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-169906C5-CBC4-45CD-8DFB-F716D51D6168 I'm betting you have some non-default option enabled, or you have some other constraint active on the object. Some…
Thanks for the help man, I already tried that and didn't help, what I found so far is this: I have to manually reset to zero all values in all the joints and locators and goal and up vector........and the error become minimal when I apply the up vector but still does weird things. NOW the thing I recently found is that my…
if the animation only being done in maya? if so you can use parent constraints, dont need additional joints. Also worth looking into Animbot if you'll be doing a lot of animations - it has some helpers for this sort of thing that is a lot less fuss compared to using native constraints.
I built a tool/rig for creating boom style camera moves in Maya. This can be used directly in maya, or baked out for use in an engine (I initially made this because the camera controls in UDK were very lacking). The idea is to constrain the camera movement, because often you see cameras and camera moves in 3d/games that…
Introduction In response to this thread: Rigging in Maya: Recursive Constraints and FBIK I've written up some of my notes from my Maya rigging class to see if they help anyone. Instead of waiting to post them all at once I'll post them as I write them up. I'm also going to ask my professor if posting…
@Veer_P An interesting shape, they're typically fiddly to model in polygonal subd that are usually fabricated using an extruded die cast mould' and also CAD designed, hence indeed a challenge so my approach would be as if modeling a car body shell of some sort with a Shrinkwrap Modifier. Because there's a similarity in…
another way to do it is to make your ribbon. make a bone/joint for each edge in the strip, and create a dummy/locator for each bone/joint and constrain the joints to the dummys/locators. constrain the root joint to the sword or whatever the trail is anchored to. Then set an expression for each locator/dummy to have its…
