Trying to garner interest in a Thunderdome style competition at the weekly CA meetup. Random hat drawn combined subject with then everyone in attendance sketching/refining their ideas with an actual prize of 4 Imax movie tickets for the winna at the end. You dont have to be a super drawer to have fun with this (and meet…
Creating the environment for Outland 17 has been a fun experience. Though the production of the game has made life quite busy, I have enjoyed every second of it. Working into the wee hours and burning the midnight oil is what every environment artist anticipates. The hard work that everyone on Grenade Tree Games has put in…
He rushes through his enormous library, eager on picking up only the darkest, most forbidden tomes. He screams through the gargantuan building, his magnificent, powerful voice echoing through every corner. “Minions: Assemble!” Loading his strong, buffed arms with the books, he supersonic sprints back to the grand foyer,…
Now this is strange. I've been using xNormal for a while now and not run into any problems, but I'm trying to make this police hat, and it's not going so well. The lowpoly is smoothed properly: The lowpoly and hipoly are the same size: I don't think there's anything wrong with my xNormal settings: But when I bake the…

Personally I'll always have to put my Google Fu hat on and start from there. If I know what I need, I'll try searching for that, and will start opening tabs like a madman. I'm generally looking for Blender scripts nowadays. Some sites that usually have good picks are stackexchange and blenderartists.
I think you did a pretty good job of keeping his silhouette and color scheme. Maybe the mask could be more white, He's got a really white face and that changes the color quite a bit. Also, maybe the hat needs to be lighter? Maybe shrink the lantern about 10%? It's pretty cool anyway, it's unique.
Here's an update based on your feedback. I have kept the the head components with the holes but have altered the shape to mirror a popes hat (still needs adjusting thought it would be a cool idea based on it being a demon however) and have also given it horns and made it look like it would be more speedy. Thanks again for…
Two or three things jump at me. One is the anatomy of her thighs; its proportion and form. The skull mask doesn't look as nice after the baking. What animal skull is it, btw ? The hat doesn't read as good. Is it made of latex ? And lastly the pose. I can't think of when or why would someone wield a scythe like that.
Nice stuff! I can't help but think that the detailing is really overkill in most of the pieces though. How much of those tiny cracks actually end up in the final normal map anyway? I know it's the Epic way to do things but I'd find a nightmare to work on assets like that so hats off :p
