I'm back! I got distracted... Anyway here's my progress, please feel free to give feedback. I'm still not very happy with the floating rocks texture and layout (besides the main one) and the tree doesn't actually have a spec map yet... Overall it needs some polish. but...
^Well right now they just look like they have static value for each paramater (albedo/spec/etc) so there isn't much to critique. Maybe add a bit of roughness and color variation, and stick them on your actual models, it might be easier to critique then. Are these all gonna be tiling materials?
a huge scanner that scans objects at 8k x 8k then tiles it. and kicks out diffuse normal spec gloss. the normal looks like something out of zbrush. was blown away. the last day at gdc, i was talking to teddy and they said they were working on a video to show off of some sort
Thank you for the critique D4V1DC. I tried some camo but it was taking away from the spec and topology. Looked too busy. I will experiment with it some more. And I will have to shoot myself for learning, teaching, and earning money for years on an inferior program such as 3dsmax. I obviously made a mistake.
I really like it man. I think you got the proportions pretty well from the concept. Only minor thing is that the gun belt and cartridges don't look very shiny at all. I'd guess darkening the diffuse might help since your spec is already pretty bright there.
I wonder why even as every new version of ms os is supposed to be more efficient, revised internal architecture, better use of hardware..., how come the average running costs + min requirements are rising (or games needing higher specs than on xp). kinda defeats the marketing argument..
Not that I know of. It's something I've always wanted, particularly so I could adjust diffuse, spec and gloss at the same time. You can try to repeat your transformation (shift-ctrl-t, I believe?) but I've found that to be a bit unreliable in Photoshop. Might work for this purpose, however.
thanks, I've looked at the wikipedia pages, but a lot of the jargon went over my head.. what I was wondering is, can you have a png with an alpha that isn't tied to transparency? say if you wanted to use it for spec or something. when I try and save a png with an alpha channel, it dissapears
No solution from me, but a question: Are you sure you typed the right card number, ATI Radeon HD 7450? Because it's a really low-class card I wouldn't recommend for 3d jobs. It's especially off when compared with your computer's other specs, which are a lot better.
*drool* great shapes,, I`ve sort of become a presentation Nazi since dom war- You might want to try a different background on the color renders as the black material blends into the background too much and it all you can see is blue and spec highlights. /end minor gripe.
