Until recently I never thought of buying a Mac. I still think they're overpriced for what you get. If I do end up getting serious with indie dev I'll have to get a Mac for publishing to iOS devices though, it's just too large of a market to ignore.
This is an interesting issue with Kickstarter. Many games are highly undervalued. $750.000 is not at all an excessive budget. It comes down to about a dozen or so people working on it for a year, which for an action RPG like this is... not a whole lot. It's similar to how the $0.99 iOS model is wreaking havoc on the…
We're done a lot of UI / UX screens in our day and particularly enjoy jumping into a sports related project. This screen is from a training simulator we worked on. In addition to the UI, we also handled all of the character animations and modeling and programming the app so that it worked on the iOS and Android stores.
Thanks for the support guys. I did want to take the approach of documenting the whole process so I can learn from my mistakes....as well as learn what I did right at the same time. I wanted to pass that on to other iOS indie developers.
Heck ya, keep this thread rolling, storys like this are the best! In the mean time, you can make more the minimum wage doing work for IOS titles on small forums. Thats what Im up to, currently working to get my portfolio to a studio job level. anyways, best of luck!
Aww man, Mara seems to be only for the IOS, and ImagineFX doesn't seem to have a Digital version of their Anatomy books (only physical, and the first issue is no longer in print). Thanks guys for the posts. Anyone else got anymore resources like these? (Preferably free, or still in working conditions?)
I've created a VR scene and want to bake any information into one single texture so that I can use Unity's unlit shader for maximum performance (Android and iOS). Is there a way to bake specular highlights or reflections? I know that these would normally depend on the camera position but there is no camera when using…
This is because the editor can now simulate what rendering will look like on a mobile device - iOS devices use a different renderer and hence the lighting comes out looking very different to that on PC. You can toggle this feature with the "Emulate Mobile Features" button: http://www.udk.com/news-beta-jun2011.html

how is the macbook air obsolete? lol. :) I love my macbook air. I run Unity 3D, Zbrush and Photoshop with no issues. It's mainly a dev unit for Unity 3D for iOS. This new macbook pro is pretty sweet though. Not sure I'd ditch my air for it though.
