it may sound boring, but guns are always a great thing to start learning high pollies on, as they generally focus around basic square/cylindrical components and generally aren't as organic as this. that's if you're looking for some ideas on what else to practice on. :)
I think I might try doing the hitman scene, even if I don't finish it, the practice will be valuable. The scene isn't actually that complicated now that I have looked at it and sorted through what the scene actually has in it.
i understand they are not a quick buck - but if i can potentially sell something that im doing for practice anyway -its a no loss situation anywho ive signed up to 3docean, submitted a texture with some alts and hopefully it will pass approval !
Perhaps unsurprisingly having some issues getting the poly count low again after beefing it up to sculpt. Does anyone have experience sculpting with blender? I think I need a few pointers for best practices.
bump, need more critique! also, Sorry for not posting anything for a while, got really tied up with school lately. Spent some time today just drawing stuff so that I can get my practice in!
Your reel is solid. Practice the mechanics with a free rig, unless you have to start sooner than that. My favorite dragon ref is from Game of Thrones and How To Train Your Dragon. You can't go wrong.
You can also give yourself design challenges that don't need to be functional as practice. Take some screenshots of a game you like without the UI, and design a new one without worrying about what's actually possible.
22, I've been practicing throughout my high-school years, decided to go to college... dropped out within 4 months, got my first job at Insomniac Games, been doing that for 9 months now.
I thought this was common practice with publishers? I know a lot of people get bonuses from how well the game did not only at retail but with its metacritic score as well. Usually this only applies to the top dogs at the company.
I'm having trouble finding the best ways to render these guys, any help would be appreciated! Is putting them into a game engine the standard practice? I guess I'll have to learn a bit more about shaders etc.
