Woah, I left this so long ago, almost a month! I've been gravitating towards the realistic style more so there are a few angles on my 2nd self-portrait ever. This was done in two days, 4-5 hours each session. Tomorrow it's retopo time! After I might either polypaint or use Texturing XYZ alphas. We'll see! I plan to leave…
hey guys, I'm 3/4 of the way through unwrapping my model. I'm wondering about UV channels. I want different aspects of my model to be on different channels. MY maps are filling up quick, I'm making sure they're packed in tight and nicely but they also have good resolution. I'm also thinking out texture priority. Should I…
so my overall target is the first image to be shear and maybe teh proper workflow is to make a good tile and then map it. so here is some progress there were alot of trial and error and redo's but i think my next step is to make the shapes more defined and shallow like the first image also wow @zombiewells nice sculpt man…
Thank you! So, yeah was doing two sided foliage shader on the 2nd asset but I guess it wasn't dense enough? but the 1st image is from Unreal's Environment asset package and the shader was set to Subsurface. Which is curious. But the Distance Field AO and GI documentation kind of put me on a new path to learn about a few…
I have been in this situation. I did an art test for a well known company in LA. They liked my test. Did 2 phone interview(one with the art manager and 2nd with the producer, i think, and they liked it. Called me in for a interview(flew me from Missouri to LA). Did an onsite interview and all of a sudden everybody that…
You were doing great with your first thread (3d work showcase), you were adding daily updates. But then you stopped. And then you made a 2nd thread with only one post in it (eyeball), and a 3rd thread with again only a single post (pre-final wip). Those two are bound to get less replies, both because they are "1-post…
A Couple of update shots for this, It has been awhile since my last post. but I'm back on track, these shots are taken in UE4 just with all the final low poly's in place to make up the default scene, I still have props to make and also some small other parts like ropes etc to add to this scene. Any critique is good, I am…
I know what you're saying, when you're just starting out it's hard to say wow I'm really proud of this, but it really sucks and i need to get a million times better if I wanna do this for a living. The first part is easy that is, it's the 2nd part that's hard heh. Another mistake/story of mine: for my first 3d model I had a…
There is no 'second pass' (a 'pass' draws the whole geometry a 2nd time) for lightmaps on iOS. 3GS can access up to 8 textures in a single pass if I recall correctly. You'll get the best performance by using vertex colors for lighting, but performances are ok with lightmaps even on the oldest devices. Avoid…
The part that says HDX600 is not wide enough at the top (in the first image of the 2nd post). Your camera position in the 1th image is also a bit different so I'm not sure if your comparison lines will really work when their not lined up correctly. And if you can find some images from the sides it would be a big time saver…
