@Brygelsmack - When you are baking your high poly meshes to a low poly plane, just make sure to export your rocks as a seperate object, then you can bake a mask from it. In xnormal i'm pretty sure it will add a mask by default in your alpha of the normal map. I'm sure there is also a way to create a mask for the rocks in…
Apparently, Layer drop down menu is easily transferred between floating to main toolbar. I notice that only Selection Sets drop down gonna "corrupted" when you try to move it (alt+drag) somewhere else and to restore it back you need to load the default UI. Hope Autodesk fix this issues in the next hotfix/ service pack.…
Can you try turning off the light environment on the skel mesh and see if this brings any change? I believe that the default level you get, the one with the 4 types of sky, is an interpactor (thus dynamic mesh) with a material that uses a custom lighting setup, and that one works. You could open that up and see where the…
Im wondering if they literally mean, every character artist builds their own rigs from scratch, or if they have a default rig/auto-rigger in the studio and every character artist is responsible for skinning and weighting their own work then animating. I mean that makes more sense and is less likely to screw up the…
Ya I noticed that some of the default materials that come with UE4 have some that are just a combination of diffuse and normal texture for the entire materiel, that kind of threw me off thinking it was okay to still use diffuse in UE4. So they must of some good programming behind these diffuse textures that look like…
Thanks for the tutorial Swizzle. I made a quick landscape and am trying to paint the materials on it, but after I apply one material to one part it won't let me subtract or paint another material over it. Isn't Control+Shift+Left Mouse how you subtract? EDIT: Figured it out... The brush strength was defaulted at 0 for some…
Yes seems like it can only be the monitor. Why are all those companies so imaginative at putting the worst marketing bullshit "smart" "user friendly" options, filters, 100hz shit, on by default of course. It's everywhere now, and getting worse. You have to spend hours between software and hardware to get something usable.…
Minor Update: Added a check-box to turn off by default the Ambient Color control across all shaders - this was useful for my coworkers because our shaders are very simple - but for more complex shaders it was annoying. there is an opportunity here for more contextual control (change ambient color only on selected geo)…
Humm, I am using unwrella2, and when I make my seams, and then use unwrella, unwrella uses both the default seams max made and the seams I made. How do I just get uwrella to use my new seams? Sorry for 101 questions in this thread but you guys are being really helpful so I appreciaite it.
What's your problem ? Getting the texture from the game or just applying them in max ? Valve's texture are in .vtf format, which max doesn't recognize by default. You need this : http://www.wunderboy.org/download.php?file=3DSMax_VTF_Import_1.4.zip&s=2 or convert the textures to some standard format like .tga with this :…
