Any modern solid engine isn't going to give a damn about your open or closed meshes. There are exceptions to the rule, and I'm sure somebody is going to immediately give me a list of engines that differ from this statement.. but thats the general consensus of 2007 game dev IMO
congrats man! that must have been pretty exciting to get that reaction from the CEOs! I remember having to pitch a game design to a local game dev for a class assessment years ago..... I actually felt sorry for them for having to listen to us for 5 minutes :(
I'm at the 47 hour mark. I'm having a great time with it. About the Yazmat (in japan, thats how it was spelt) boss... the dev team made that as a salute to the the great Yasumi "Yazz" Matsuno who left the helm of the project in the fourth year of development. Yaz-Mat, awesome eh?
I'm working with as small dev team who's using the C4 engine. The license seems fairly inexpensive and the tech is comparable to most current gen engines. You can check out the feature list as well as some other information here: http://www.terathon.com/c4engine/features.php
Love XSI but it's soo rare no one use's it in the uk game dev apart from Lionhead and Digi-Guys, although i think Bizzare Creations may still use it. Know maya and max equaly good, abit of modo and lightwave. Houdini gives me a headache.
I'm trying to download it now, but the downloadpage keeps crashing deer park :/ I'm especially curious about the painttools, since that's the one area where wings3D apparantly doesn't surpass nendo. edit: it freezes firefox 1.0.6 as well. if it doesn't work for you, try using ie
Was on a vacation and did some small sideprojects in the meantime instead of working on the character. Somebody dear to me got themself a cogi and I wanted to make a printable figurine. Something different I was trying. I thought about how to model the katana bindings for some time and I think I finally found a way that…
I use Maya and ZBrush primarily. I "grew up" on Unity so I haven't touched UDK. I have buckets and buckets of scripts to supplement my modeling/unwrapping speed. No, I'm not still modeling hard surface stuff in ZBrush :) I can high poly model in Maya, yes. I'll be posting a bunch of those Weekly Hard Surface Challenge…
This might be a stupid question to ask. How does one attend E3 every year? Is E3 exclusively for game devs who have worked in the games industry or know someone in the industry? I would like to attend to one E3 event at some point.
Sorry, Dustin. Another one bites the dust for San Diego.. Work is getting tougher to find out here. Dustin, I got buddies at Trion telling me they are doing a major hiring push. They are located in Del Mar. Had an interview there and it's a GREAT studio!
