Hi guys, First time post on polycount and I am in for this contest. It sounds very fun to me. I decide not to make a humanoid type of character and go with the beast from the Chinese mythology. It was a beast living under sea but could also walk on the land where he attacks many villages. I will update with either sketch…
needs more filth. (earty warn tones) dip your whole head in one of those grease bins that you usually find behind Chinese restaurants, them dry off on the floor of a car mechanic. Gonna be lots of jokers this year, but who ever is the dirtiest will reign supreme.
To clarify I was talking mainly about the new concepts. Concepts 1-15 are from the Edge article and we've known them to be legit for a while. Anyways, if this source is legit (can't read the original Chinese source) the concepts are real and the artist got in trouble because of the leak, which sucks :/
Animation was going frustratingly slow, polish is always is a headache. To calm the nerves I'd thought I'd do a lil concept thing for drow with a chinese archer set. Wooo CNY event. Mostly just for fun, but tomorrow elephant will be all completely animated and ready for the big time :o
Artist on tweeter who freelanced for Red5 said he was owed $12K. Even with a contract and hiring a lawyer to go after backpay he was just ignored. He didn't say it outright, but his tweets suggest to be wary of Chinese owned studios (if you do freelance work for them).
begs the question, PC Shanghai meetup? Are there more than just 2 polycounters here? Shanghai just sucks for people outside China, because unless you're transiting you will need a Chinese visa. So probably not a great choice for inviting the wider Asia PC user base.
I want to put a little standing desk somewhere that isn't my office and that i can plop a laptop and a 24" knockoff cintiq on so I can lie to myself about how much time I spend glued to my PC There's plenty of suitably sized (cheap) desks on amazon but I thought I'd check in here to see if anyone's come up with a more…
This is way below your budget, but other people might find it useful. Cube (a chinese company) makes some really nice cheap alternatives to Surface 4 Pro's lower tier models. I have recently bought Cube i7 Book as a portable sketchbook and it handles Photoshop pretty well. You can get Wacoms EMR pens for it and it's a…
First game that comes to mind is Torchlight, they did pretty much what you said poop. But who knows Red 5's motives or gambles, we really don't' know much about their unshipped title. A decent Chinese MMO could end up being ridiculously profitable.
Why not spend like $10 on some bellows and a mount and get a Midnight Chinese Special? Everything is properly mounted and you can extend/pan/pull and track with .01mm accuracy. Go to the hardware store and swap the bellows adjustment wheel with a larger one (for more precise movement) for $5 more.
