this is a game asset i'm making for an indie game called "global conflicts" max polycount is 2000-2500 texture is 1 1024 map and i'm not allowed to use transparency for the windows. this is around at 2342 polys. i realized recently that i didn't put mirros, but i'm just going to make planes and use transparency for the…

I thought it was time I graduated to a new forum. One where more people posts work and offer more effective comments and critiques. Not so hot with textures, so excuse the textureless models. All comments and critiques welcome. <u>The Joker</u> 1980 Triangles <u>Gambit</u> 2726 Triangles 2472 (Character) + 254 (Trenchcoat)
of course i don't want to assign fresh materials, but keep the texture assignments as they were. the only script i found and goes in the right direction does not work with my maya 7. maybe the code is outdated. last update was 1999.. http://www.highend3d.com/maya/downloads/mel_scripts/rendering/misc/243.html
Thanks for your help, I found that in the Photoshop Color Settings changing this fixes it: Gray: Dot Gain 20% to Gray: Gray Gamma 2.2 I think the dot gain 20% is the default setting? This problem would be avoided if the image was RGB as it would go through the sRGB profile instead.
I just thought of updating when you asked what version I was running. Now I fixed it by updating to v2.3.1. I was using 2.2 previously. Yes, I'm using 2 mesh groups. Those reflection maps were from their respective mesh groups. Anyways, thanks!
Gamma issue as usual. Max convert your 8bit map to gamma 1 then "rescale" it to gamma 2.2. Gamma is vital for rendering and this is only a display issue, but once again a smart move from autodesk to activate this by default for people who don't know what it is for. Disable gamma/lut correction.
I'll just add the links then http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/217/magnumrender5.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/7/magnumrender6.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/222/magnumrender1.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/821/magnumrender3.jpg/
It just came to my mind while recommending this thread on another forum and following another meme: (Maybe this already came up somewhere else??) Some martial polygon art masters chat: Master 1: I can do only 20k polygons.. how much can you do? Master 2: Hmm. i can properly do 24k or maybe even up to 26k polygons.. and…
