Hey, I think the branches are way too curly to be oak, and the bark is not rough enough. The leaf cards are also incredibly noticeable. I love the tree sculpt though. I would like to see a more intricate root bit at the bottom.
I've been hoarding my updates. Working on my foliage and trying to make it look as awesome as possible. I've got a test bake of the tree trunk sculpt. The limbs and branches are separate so I can use the trunk as a dead variation.
It's not dead yet - I swear Worked quite a bit on this one but a lot has come in between - hopefully I'll have more time now to finish this one off. Sculpted several pieces in the scene and going to bite into the tree or the camp at this point.
Thanks for the info Xoliul! I will be redoing a lot of the trees some other way than using speed tree since speed tree seems to do only one the for UDK, and that's crash it. I will be bunching more together as well later one with more cluttering. Well I finished my sci fi thingy I was working on so now I am back to this!…
I had the center piece in before I had the idea of putting the tree in. Unfortunately, the tree conceals it entirely. This is literally the best view you can get of it from the floor. Regarding the bark texture, I resorted to throwing a CG texture into crazybump, then taking the heightmap into zbrush so I can bake…
Hey, A-Train, the higher part of the trees were not sculpted, I used a generic wood with PS normal map. To blend both UV islands I simply faded the edges to RGB 127,127,255 where it meet on the model. Nothing exceptional but it worked well.
His neck looks really weird... like that shelf tree fungus stuff, although honestly the whole thing is kind of disgusting... I guess thats the intent. I like the detail you put into it, I'm nowhere near as good at sculpting as you are.
I was asked to show some more breakdowns. A very detailed breakdown of the diorama is on 80 level: https://80.lv/articles/paris-diorama-the-power-of-details/ The diorama was made with a combination of photogrammetry (the tree) and classical sculpting (the door and wall). Here is a look into it:
Cheers for pointing that out Rex, I will see if toning that down will make it better. However, it's not really the diffuse which is at fault here (it does not have that much lighting tbh) but the material. Small update: Here's a quick sculpt of a dead tree. I've never had a chance to sculpt wood before, but I am fairly…
Hello, we are a small family run miniatures company that need an artist that can sculpt styled props and tilesets. Artist must be able to sculpt in a very stylized manner very much like World of Warcraft and be able to work at a fairly decent rate. We have a Kickstarter going LIVE in a few weeks and need various props…
