in theory you could render an image to the size of the free space in your hard disk, so I doubt it's the video card. I rendered 24bit images over 4000 pixels on each edge with a 2mb amiga 1200.

Actually the jug ward limit is 2400 (I think), all you have to do is just get a sphere and subdivide it until 4000 and just import it to see the limit. The wards linked to you are observer wards.
Thanks, guys! I got it to a point where I'm pretty sure it should have worked and theeen the Importer is telling me the poly limits for the golem are 1200/2400 instead of 3500/6500. And you can rest easy, Helenek and Hudson, I'll be giving this guy a whole new set of animations :)
