Well to be clear, "usually" is ok for making hard edges... that's optional. But you should always split UVs where you have hard edges. This is necessary to avoid shading errors, because a contiguous uv can't represent the sudden shading change from a hard edge.
Generally there's nothing wrong with having ngons on a flat surface like you have, but if you need a specific triangulation/topology for your surface then doing it by hand is ofc required. Test in your target rendered to see if you get any shading errors if not it's good to go.
I don't think you have to worry about game studios going %100 outsourcing, the time difference makes it hard to be agile so you need internal artist to fix errors and also do art that requires alot of collaboration between different departments.
Nice points. Bill & Ted's excellent adventure is a good example of the latter, even though it parodies it. The former one however is being misused a lot, just look at Terminator Salvation. They make up all sorts of crap and continuity errors and then blame it all on different timelines.
Sounds like it could be your PSU or its fan is dying, pay attention to see if the fan stops spinning often or if it was just a weird fluke. Not turning back on right away and not getting a blue screen or an error or a total restart makes it seem like a PSU issue.
Okay, I found the time to model a new lowpoly, normal map works mostly, just a few errors because of my bad uvs...that's the next thing I am going to work on. I'll post some screens when I'm at my pc :D
test bakes start! Exploded bake, just normal, going to bake the ao, i have been struggling 3 days with this, got a load of weird errors, until i realised my .fbx settings had smothing groups and normals off, stupid me
Are you able to run 3dsmax under vmware virtual machine? I my case i can run 3dmax perfectly if i boot to windows side on my mac but if try to launch it in vmWare the whole virtual machine crashes after few error messages.
Thanks haZe! Love your Lulu! Today I made some poses for the final shots and I decided to try Sketchfab, so here it is: [sketchfab]d583af73b39f47c48f3d5555bed1239c[/sketchfab] I found some errors while setting up the model in sketchfab that I will fix tomorrow.
I got Dead Rising today, it rocks.. tho I did get the disc not readable error.. Im going to try clearing the cache whenever I boot it up.. see how that works...so far so good. My Gamertag is Orpheus 360
