Even though they stopped development on it, its still a great tool. HLSL isnt that hard to learn. Pick up Ben's DVD's on CG Academy and check out the CG tutorial by NVidia. I think the old fashioned movie effects of the original trilogy is what makes it so enjoyable. These new CG special effects take away some of the magic that made the original series timeless. The main drawback of asset packs and material libraries is that they cover too small square area like 2x2 m and designed for tiny texel size.
