Also know that you can click-drag the spinner up or down to grow, shrink the selection quickly, which is helpful when you want to start out with a tiny selection and grow it really big really fast but don't want to click a billion and a half times. This functionality applies to most if not all spinners.
What happened to the database in the first place, to require rebuilding? I missed that part. Did something break, or has this just been part of a housekeeping effort, or has Polycount officially dropped its database function and any service along those lines is meant to be an unofficial "extra", or what? I'm outta the loop!
EQ: me. it sucked the last time i tried it. which was some time ago, but it doesn't look to have updated much since. it's just not at a useful state, imho. I think there was a function to paint textures onto the mesh, but I really couldn't figure it out, or it gave me some wacky results.
Inside of polyboost (graphite tools in 3dsmax 2010) there is a Swiftloop function lets you place a loop wherever you click. It was inside the polydraw tools in polyboost, not sure where it is now in 2010. If I remember correctly it lets you slide it into place before you release. I haven't used it in a while tho...
Only via maxscript AFAIK. The SkinOrDie toolset has a hide function, and I found it does work. Even though it appears as though the vertices are still selectable, they aren't actually being affected while they're "hidden". I haven't used it in a long time tho, not sure if it still works in latest Max.
When you hit any of the default hotkeys T or F or B they point you at the world center, they don't remember their last position. Autodesk added a "Save Active View" function, but it requires you to explicitly save the view before you leave it, then explicitly load that save if you want it again. Cheap.
Maya 7 has full body IK which they yanked from Motion Builder, so it now effectively has a biped. If you're familiar with Motion Builder you should be happy, as it blows away a CS biped in terms of functionality. I do love character studio. And it's definitely getting better with age.
Is then any easy way to take some text that's been bevelled or whatever and then join it to some plane geometry so it looks imprinted into the surface without having to resort to doing it manually by welding/bridging edges between the letters? There's the function to cut into the object you want the text imprinted on but…
I need to do a lot of cutout plant textures and would like to hear other peoples methods of cutting and photographing vegetation. I have been using a white background and the "select color range" function in Photoshop. i would NEVER recommend this technique as it is very fiddly; one fern frond would take at-least half an…
The grabdoc function under the alpha panel isn't grabbing any depth info from my 2.5 canvas. It grabs a pure white texture instead of the usual depth info you'd expect. This only happens after I've made edits with the 2.5 tools. Before making any edits, it grabs just fine. Anyone know what might be going on?
