Man this is weird, no human error like forgeting maya hard edges settings in obj ? i did try exactly now using maya 2012(student ed.) and some graphicall blender build and it works, maybe some folks may pitch in and test :(
1. Make sure your tangent space is set to Max in the per-object properties. 2. Make sure you've exported a triangulated mesh out of max In addition to that, these sort of errors should not be visible when you apply your completed texture to the mesh.
He's just showing what his high-poly top sub-d looks like, compared to the projected version of the z-remesher mesh next to it (on the far right), so you can see that there are no projection errors happening with his method (or very few).
This looks like an error in your mesh. Ensure that your mesh is a single object per UV set. Reset transforms. Make sure UVs are laid out properly. Make sure everything is welded as-needed, and ensure that smoothing groups are applied to your model.
THanks PatTl! Im baking a LP AO as we speak-i fixed some smoothing and UV errors and going to redo the texture from scratch. It´s my first dDo project so nothing lost but time, but already some knowledge gained.
Thanks Adam. I'm not rendering with a viewport shader for any other reason then I thought I'd try it and liked the look of it. I tried again with a basic material from the material panel, but it still came up with the same error. More concerned about the that then the shader.
hmm this shader seems to have issues displaying TIF's as diffuse and normal maps. At least the ones that zbrush r3 spits out ... or is it a maya thing?? i was getting the same visual error as "wretchedgoat" until i changed my maps from tif to jpg.
First thing I'd try is to put an Edit Normal modifier atop your mesh, select all normals and 'Unify'. Then collapse back to Editable Poly. If that doesn't work, try using Max's Xview mode to check for various mesh errors through the viewport.
@Aimbiz thanks for feedback! You're right about the hovercraft, it was mostly a relaxment drawing so i expected some major functionality and perspective errors! :D For today i felt like trying out some other artstyle: as allways is feedback highly appriciated! :)
I bought the computer about 3 years ago as a build it yourself kit. I found my old ram package and its ddr2 1000mhz but in the mobo manual it says max 800 mhz and max 8Gb could this give some kind of errors?
