I mean... I'm not sure what about your work makes it unsuitable for AAA studios other than... content? I assume you're drawing what you want to draw. You do it well. I think you should be applying to those studios anyway, you never know when the tides might cross over onto the work you like to do. It seems like it might be…
That's fair One of those situations where written words don't carry the same inflections as if I'd said it using my mouth. So - apologies. I'll preface the next bit with ... None of this would stop me doing what you intend to do. Also not a lawyer. As an alternative to your Walkman example (I've never had to deal with a…
@Andreicus ad 1) I'm not someone who cares too much about optimization in a portfolio. It's not the right place for it except if you are trying to get a job working with really low poly stuff. Optimization completely depends on the game so chasing imaginary goals in portfolios at the expanse of quality doesn't make too…
I keep working at home. Sounds like your "friend" (wink) doesn't feel like he has any ownership of his art, which I can understand. A lot of time, most of the time, in production environments, you are tasked with technical things or revamping things or "executing" stuff that isn't really your bag. I would tell your…
hey hiten! it's tory! I finally figured out how to change my user-name and post on here. this is going to be cool. I like the winding bridges. They lead my eye through the piece and I think that is important when it comes to busy scenes. It also…
Great stuff, I think this piece has a lot of potential. Right there seems to be some noticeable issue with scale. I'll just list my critique here for ya. 1) Scale - Doors and Windows appear to be really large, i'm looking for a frame of reference and don't really see any but it appears not accurate to the building. Some…
Looks interesting. In your first post you mention that you want to mix in some overgrowth....but I haven't seen much of that come through yet. What kind of things are you looking to do to get that across? I think it might be cool to leave some remnants of a past battle here, maybe some derelict warthogs/ghosts, something…
Rods respond most strongly to somewhere in between green and blue, but this by no means means that they don't respond to red at all. In fact, given the large wavelength difference between green and blue as opposed to between green and red (this small difference is also part of the cause for R-G-blindness), it's more likely…
Pretty much what the others said, right now this looks a lot like a blog, not really a portfolio. Your first piece has one line of comment: "Made a lowpoly, but who cares this looks way cooler.". The brutal truth is that no one is going to bother past that. Getting into the industry as a junior is very hard, but it's…
yea, the LOD issue would be easily fixable if most of the large/medium forms were done with geo with custom edge normals, and then things small/micro details like screws are done with the decals . on almost all the models above, the decals could be dropped on an LOD more than a meter or 2 from the player, those grenades…
