Amazing work! It's very aesthetically pleasing, and has a perfect balance between looking realistic and stylized at the same time. I could easily see this asset matching seamlessly with other sets of assets that lean towards one of the two extremes. Thanks for sharing the files as well!
1. Win dare to be digital competition and receive a BAFTA 2. Release a successful game with indie studio 3. Get tanked at the gym I think the last one is the only realistic target, although if this pile of chocolate doesn't fuck off I'm going to be stuck.
I also want to add the distribution of dirt on the knife could be more realistic. It's all over/uniform when it should really be concentrated heavily in some areas, and lighter in other parts. Or I would make the dirt look "smeared" to show it was physically handled by someone.
This is generally not the best advice. Unless it's a big mirror-like surface, it's very hard to notice the discrepancy between the reflections and the environment around it. Most realistic metals aren't super clean anyway, though. So just try to stay accurate to the real world, whatever the case.
It's a solid foundation! I'd say as a first small improvement is to apply some color zones on the character. Right now, the local hue of the skin is reading a monotone. Doesn't necessarily have to be a realistic human's skin color zone idea, but it'd be a good idea to start from.
Can you do it in post-effects in an engine, say UDK? Then it's okay because it shows a realistic outcome. (but if you have the chops, you should just do it in-engine) Or in other words, don't use brushes or shit, but only filters that affect the entire image at once.
I would take out your hand painted wood and flame run. While both are cool, it seems like your passion is realistic environments and props. Also, your "Miscreated" content looks a lot more impressive than either of those other entries.
Just realized I hadn't commented on this yet. The hair is looking so good! It looks super soft and the front has a really nice sheen to it. Are you gonna go realistic on the face texture and give her pores etc? Can't wait to see the next update!
@airage I like your texture. looks so realistic in the render pic. @sipher Your trees are great. nice style. @Manticora I like the light in your scene and your path. good work. I think i should recreate my textures ^^.
Some initial design ideas. Not really sure if i want to with the realistic style art or with the a more cartoony style like hearthstone. I am liking the idea of having some type of pirate themed marking on her face but it needs more exploration into different designs.
