@JesseL Yeah, definitely picking up some of them and spending extra time for polishing is something I also have the curiosity to do... hm in the near future? Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my little hobby!
I look at games as any other hobby you might have (mountain biking, skating, movies, outdoors, etc) If you spend a lot of time on it, it will make you unproductive on the rest of "life" (work, family, etc). Discipline, that's all.
Hey there, I've been working on this for the last couple of days. The mesh is 1080 tris, textures are mostly 128x128, all handpainted. It's for a hobby project of me and a friend programmer making an oldschool-ish adventure game, ala zelda oot. Crits highly welcome:)
If I were a 33 year old in 2014 I'd rather go to Beer University and major in becoming a brewmaster. Once I graduate and have a tasty day job I can still art for hobby or freelance in my off hours.
vitor: ya could be, I just get all nerdy about picking out movie screwups, its like a hobby or something. haha Does the book share the same title? Who wrote it? Looks like I'll have to check it out.
Good: Still alive Have a job Bad: No game job Put on a ton of weight Despondent mood 2018: Get a place of my own Have an industry job Get out more Lose weight Pick up some hobbies
Bonkahe - I recommend you to stop making your character, until you finish this because the deadline is coming soon...:) Btw you need to decide you are a character artist or an environment artist. Or if this is just a hobby, i said nothing :D
I don't know much about the garme industry as this has always been a hobby for me, but I do understand companies. The language they speak is profit; If you can make a case that they'll save money by investing in scripts for you, they will if they can.
Looks like a mighty fine project. Dunno if the gameplay would be my cup of tea but I sure like contrasty space scenery and think it's great that polycounters team up to create something that goes beyond just being a hobby project.
1. Guy who makes a hobby out of taking a small tin can full of nuts and bolts into theater, and "accidently" drops it during specific scenes. 2 Guy who not only brings his cellphone into the theater turned on, but decides not to answer it.
