The reason Apple blocks things is because they want total control over everything, and if you don't like it go screw yourself. This is nothing new. They do it with everything they make. Ipod, iphone, Macs. Apple makes Microsoft bs look like a blessing.
the model looks good from what i can see......but i it's really hard to see. Post a better shot of the model, where it's not all black. where you can see the different parts of the model. right now it all blends together.
I have question regarding the background meshes, how did you texture them? Is it atlased superbig map + baked sculpt normal map, or just vertex blended rock/grass tiles + nrm +ao (in which case the result is simply amazing)?
Yeah for that sort of shiny metal it'd be worth blending a cubemap over your material to reflect the room's surroundings instead of relying on specular to do it all for you. As Eric says, metals are mostly reflection, and it's especially obvious in polished silver that it reflects the surroundings.
Inhibition of natural hormones and liver damage? Rage? Shrinking testicles? ...some sick stuff in the p&p lately though yea. The blend between film and game artists must also have had an affect on the massive amount of artists in the forums lately.
Very nice! I'm a fan of the sci-fi/retro blend you have going on. It makes me think of Malaveldt's vehicle concepts. Is the missile truck meant to be in the style of Bionic Commando: Rearmed? It's mostly the bright colors that make me think so.
A lot of RTS games have a great deal of units on screen at a time. For that reason, a lot of them use quaternion animation of some sort. Basically model rotation on segmented meshes, instead of vertex blending and deformation. It renders faster, but is more troublesome for the artist.
Are you confusing weighted normals on chamfered edges with floating corner trim methods? Your floating corner trim needs to blend off into a neutral flat(no data) on the normal map. Otherwise you will get thst harsh transition.
Thanks vofff you are right. :) I need to start adding some green vegetation and flowers. and anything not sandy color :D I also cant wait to try out some vertex painting/texture blending stuff.
If you using Marmoset, you should try importing your hair as a separate mesh and changing the blending mode to alpha. Also change the option for double sided planes. This should give you some kind of decent result.
