Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Quixel and Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Quixel SUITE don't contain uninstallers on my system, Jonathan. I'm using Windows 8 at the moment. Should I uninstall using control panel, or is this likely to leave things behind?
Flickr is great, I usually just try searching loads of different keywords until I find what I need. If I'm really struggling to find anything online I will start searching for books that might contain relevant images but that's very rare.
Awesome work man! If you are still looking for things to add in your kitbash, you should check out this site: http://www.revell.com/ It's filled with car, ship, plane, spaceship models... And there's a pdf instruction file with each model containing high details of the parts.
The game we did contained map generation - we were hoping to eventually get random map generation in there - movement, ballistics and collision detection. It was more of a get a question right and you can shoot, get it wrong and you can't. Is he doing it in C++?
Textures can tile in any direction, when you bake a texture it only bakes uv within contained in the 0-1 space, its basically stacking the uv's on top of each other in a way that wont mess up the bake. Always use padding.
The scene just contains a lowpoly mesh, nothing complicated at all :/ I had a look at the script editor and it said " cannot perform polymerge on selection" about 5 times before it crashed, which is wierd... Will post some pics up of various things later.
looks like a normal direction problem....try highlighting the faces that contain the edges, select normal>set to face and then try the append again....I often get a twist from maya's bridge tool so I never use it anymore. hope that helps
If you want to go for the real quick and dirty desaturate diffuse for spec you might as well just reuse the difuse and adjust it's values in the shader. This way you aren't wasting a texture sample and graphics memory on a texture that esentially contains the same information as the diffuse.
I'm curious if anyone has ever experienced this and may have an answer.... I'm trying to import a scene from Maya into Max and it seems like geometry containing vertex color information is is showing up black (or not at all) inside of Max. What is causing this?
Hey Polycount, We'll call this an introduction as it's my first post containing any actual work... Feedback, general... eyeballs on them is great. There is also some more stuff at my website http://www.joshuakimnell.com including a sketchbook of w.i.p & incidental stuff via instagram. - Joshua :)
