Hi guys! this is my end of year school project based on a Windir's wizard's miniature (here it is http://www.gidian-gelaende.de/Material_HP/Windir/Wizards_Place/album/). I'm pretty much done with it, but I still can improve it for my portfolio, so advices and critics are welcome :)
Oh wow, this looks fantastic. I can't wait to see the rest of the fortress. My only crit and this is more of a personal opinion but in the miniature pictured seems to have a bit more vibrancy and range in it's materials colors, causing the sections to pop a bit more.
Non-metallic metals. It's a term from miniature painting... Where you can actually paint with metallics (flakes of colored metal suspended in medium) or color (pigment). The metallics give highlights themselves, while with nmm you need to paint the highlights and shadow.
36, coming up on 10 years in the business. Done all kinds of stuff from big budget projects with 100+ staff to small indie titles (much more fun). Also dabbling in rapid prototyping miniatures for a little collaborative side-project.
Last year I got the opportunity to work with First4Figures and here is what I was responsible to create, Megaman X . They are sending me one miniature this year. More details on the product can be found here> http://www.first4figures.com/compone...,3/product,126
soul, you're the man. all these low poly models you've been doing look beautiful and seem to me like the digital art equivalent of doing hand-crafted miniatures--they're tiny, but so precise and immaculately detailed. keep them coming
badass!! are all of these prints? I remember ages ago you saying you were making them for miniature prints. Did that ever go through? That Oki dude would look super sweet painted on mah desk :) awesome stuff dude!

This scene looks like one of those cute miniature dioramas, really diggin' the effect you've got going there. I never think about Marmoset 2 being something you can render full scenes easily in now, great job. :)
