Hello peoples. I decided to become a texture artist for a hobby. This is my first quick piece. I'm sure there's flows, mistakes, etc. I can use critiques. Be brutally honest if you must. My goal is to become a GREAT texture artist.
True. I think the industry as a whole needs to reconsider revising the terms on their hiring posts from "Senior" to "Associate or Junior" roles. Besides more money can be saved easily, as long as they look for those who live to mod for a hobby.
Married here for almost 8 years. Wife understands my passion and also likes to play games. She is crazy supportive of my career path and hobbies. Great lady to have on my arm. Also 2 wonderful kids.
Right, if download limits are so restrictive.... Then buy the textures and download as many as you like? I have to say, I am impressed with how quickly this turned from seemingly a hobby to a full blown service. Well done!
Time to develop a new hobby! [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPkj8IBpcrk[/ame] always look on the bright side of life adam. I hope u get well soon. in the meantime, be positive and utilize your feet ;)
I think do the two things well will be very hard. You must make a choice. One can be your career, the other can be your off-hour hobby. Good luck! _________________ 3d rendering architectural visualization
true true! But often you see these little freeware games with some great gameplay, but the graphics really SUCK! While there are people here that make 3d art for their hobbies and would love to see their work being put to work.
coldwolf: 'infamous' because that video is from 1998. A lot of people in the 'hobby' community weren't doing work like that at the time, so when the vid came out it was pretty inspiring. At least, thats what I've picked up.
If you're interested in potentially earning a passive income online, then there's a ton of relevant info to be had. Also I've freelanced (product-vis) in the past but for now at least, digital art in general is just a hobby I like doing when time allows.
I feel like 3d modelers will be just a hobby in like 20 years. I mean with the steam market, turbosquid and others, it's only a matter of time before companies can just buy what they need rather than paying workers.
