ZacD - We weren't given limits for the assignment, but my model is currently at 3849 tris with a 1024x1024 texture Low poly w/ normal map update. I'm aware of the seam from the normal map on the bell part and will be fixing that in the next update. Also fixed some fisheye camera issues :|
Not sure how I missed this until today :O This is really good stuff man, especially the character with the faceless helmet! ZacD: It seems dii modeled the head closer to the proportions of a skull, so it's a bit smaller vertically than it would be if it had muscle and skin on top. At least that's my assumption :)
@ an aggressive napkin - thanx for the tips! I havent started texturing yet. That is just plain solid colors, with normal and the 3point shader. I just got excited to see how it looked so i decided to post. @ ZacD - Spec on the alpha? that sounds interesting! What does that exactly mean?
Thank you very much guys, i think this is best solution. It can be lower poly, this is just my test for another main model, i'll try this solution on the main model. @ZacD : yea i make edges around the cube hard and seperate UV island, thank you.
I want to build an all-steel 1500lb+ draw weight hand-held arbalest that shoots bolts at 400+fps. Probably not going to happen until I get a job though. Other than that, pretty much what @Zacd said, minus GDC since I'm in China =/
Hm. Maybe a button when posting that enables notifications for the thread and is automatically checked ? Ive seen various forums use this. There is a lot of free space on the left of the save reply button. ZACDs solution sounds pretty good but you always had this "1 new mail" thing still
ZacD, thanks! tristamus, I created the wave pattern by using a simple maya polyplane in the background. I placed it in the document and then painted waves using the 2.5d simple brush. I used ~ to offset the image. Then I placed each coin individually on the sculpted plane, a litte imbed and facedown.
Hey guys, thanks for checking this stuff out. Especially you ZacD you've gotta be my favorite listener:) I've seen you around here for a while, Computron, yet never had any idea you speak russian. Yeah, it's funny how you never know:)
haha, it wasn't a very useful log message was it. I'd also check out ZacD's proposal that your PSU might be dying, do you live in an area where there might be frequent power issues? UPS might help there. Process of elimination, you'll find out some time :)
As ZacD said, use a cage. If you absolutely must avoid using a cage (which is a mistake, a cage is a must if you want quality bakes), then you can get rid of the issue by adjusting the ray distance. (xNormal's Ray Distance Calculator is a good place to start, under "tools")
