Well i don't have dead verts mesh to test either... But anyway, if your workflow works... You can set the vertex paint modifier to alpha channel with .mapChannel = -2 You don't have to store each modifier in a variable, but i think it's easier then to edit their parameters, if needed. @FAT_CAP FWVN Modifier is like the bevel modifier, you need to update it, by re-hitting the fwvn mod. button, and you should be able to get rid of the weird shading (systematically shading will get dumb when the mesh is modified but here's the thing -->) OR Something better is to use this solution I've made exclusively for… -

I use an iPod Shuffle, the new ones that are just little clips, just as you describe. You can set it up in iTunes to work as just a USB mass storage device, copy your MP3s on and off it, and run an update script (that you keep on the shuffle) to update the playlist, never needing iTunes after the initial setup.
