Another update for this week :) All images below are directly from Unreal Engine. Over the last couple of days I’ve been focusing heavily on refining details throughout the environment, especially terrain variation, material breakup, and overall cohesion. I’ve also been adjusting the horizon and surrounding landscape to…
Hi, I was wondering if its possible to paint a custom mask for a material. Really i would like to paint it rather than load in a custom mask that i have painted in another photoshop file. My questions- Is it possible to paint directly onto layers without destroying the DDO set-up? Can we add custom layers without…
Hi everyone, as the title describes I'm inexperienced with hand painted styled textures but it is something that I would like to learn.I make this topic in order to keep myself on track while taking critiques and advice from people who know what is going on with hand painted stuff.I'll try to update as much as…
Hello! I am trying to work on hand-painted texture for a character. I'd like it to be somewhat WoW-like stylized, but partially it looks like childrens' painting :) I am mostly doing modelling and sculpting, but trying to learn how to do "old school" textures. I painted values first and then overpainted colors. The…
@Jessica Dinh and Mcejn: Thanks a ton for the crits and paint over :) I've incorporated some of the shadow variation in this latest version, I think it's added a nice variation to the bricks and makes them appear to be of various sizes and depth, I'll probably come back to this tomorrow and increase the shadows and depth a…
I have a bunch of the same mesh in my level, a giant rock basically. Ive duplicated this same rock around my level and each of the copies of this rock has the same material on it thats setup for vertex painting with a few different textures. If I vertex paint each one of these rocks separately, does that count as a draw…
I am looking into getting a 3D app that does excellent job at offering wide variety of tools to an artist for painting textures directly on 3D models (low- to med- polycount, UV mapped models). I am specifically looking for an app that allows using curves over 3D model and painting strokes using curves as guides. Nice…
Mari shows you what you paint as it will appear on the target you're painting to. Basically in the case, the detail you're painting is smaller than a pixel of the layer/paint noode you're paintingtto. If you want more detail, you'll need to increase the resolution of the layer/paint node.
Hey I have a fairly noob question so bare with me :poly122: I've been doing a lot of research and am finding not a lot of information on the matter, from what I understand there are two ways to paint terrain. You can create a layered terrain material and paint within the landscape tab or there is the paint tab which you…
Thanks Brad. I tried darkening the ground a bit more and also desaturated it some. I also went through the beds and tried sharpening the texture up by painting in some more light into the grain and brightening the tops of planes to separate them better. I think I'm slowly creeping up to the point I can call it done. Going…
