you're not wrong re: a blanket ban being the only effective one but where does the line lie? AI art is a form of procedural art which you can't ban because everything we do round here is procedural to some extent - and it's not straightforward to define where proceduralism becomes AI because the only real difference is the…
Good start! One small critique; The bevels on your gun (and to a lesser extent the boxbot) are too thin. Rounding off the sharp edges should help add to the readibility of the piece, but right now they kind of get lost at a normal viewing distance.
Is it possible to make tileable textures like this: http://eat3d.com/free/zbrush_tile in Mudbox? There's plenty of info around on sculpting detail into a plane and tiling it, but I want to do it using meshes; a cobblestone floor in this case. I've done some extensive Googling and can't seem to find anything.

Building zones inside of max means I need to work with large multisubs - usually 40-50 material IDs - does anyone have scripts or tips to make this a little less of a headache? I personally make extensive use of the Neil Blevins' CollapseSubObjectMaterial script and the Autorenamer script.
I pre-ordered it like when the beta came out. I remember playing the first one with a friend on split screen, extensively. I purchased the second one and it's okay, but this one is awesome. All I can say is I will be buying it.
2 things. You posted in General Discussion; I moved this to Tech Talk. You need to state what 3d program you're using, along with the version number. Have you checked to make sure the image files have extensions?
Very nice progress. I would suggest a particle effect or just static alphas for the smoke. Right now it looks like an extension of the exhaust pipe/chimney thing. Or you could give that smoke more geo, and really paint in that detail. :)
I'm loving the extent you've gone with only one 256 map. The only suggestion I have would be to tweak the height and thickness of trees that are similar. All the vegetation seems too well manicured. Other than that it's a very impressive scene.
I'm expecting a lot of "it depends" comments, which this question usually gets. While technically true to an extent, it isn't remotely helpful. This is a good resource I found a while back. It obviously isn't exact, but it gives a great frame of reference to start with.
