Righto, so since we changed the design of the space somewhat, as shown above, I decided to spend a couple hours on a revised concept. Not sure yet about the extent of the gold, so I may touch this up at some point
I agree to some extent. One thing I thought about game art is that maybe it has evolved to be more "readable", and this conflicts with it's aesthetic qualities. I actually think the art in Minecraft is a lot better than in LOVE though.
I think having it end not on "recognize the woman who birthed you, by ignoring her" day, would be a good move in future scheduling. Even without the extension I'm fine, but like Gav said more time is always welcome.
Yesterday sounded like a good time. I did meet up with Scott (eXpendabLe) last night for dinner. Had a great time at Magic Time Machine. We were served by this lady dressed up as Lilo (Lilo & Stitch).
Apparently the date isn't even scheduled yet, but it will be mid-august. We will be talking extensively with the quakecon people to figure out how best to structure this. Whether it will be a row out in the byoc area, or a dedicated area of our own, is yet to be determined.
Given that I've not had extensive experience with many engines (only 2 really), definitely UE2. Despite the bugs, which were fine once I learned the work arounds, it's tools were great, was very fluid to work with, etc...
"with a PCI extension thing plugged into the mobo" This might be a factor too. If nothing else, try making sure all the connectors are clean, and reseat the card a couple times just to make sure its all the way in and all the way connected.
Swift3D appears to export exactly one format, it's own: ".t3d" UnrealEd appears to use this file type but when importing an object into UnrealEd I get a progress bar, then nothing, no objects in the scene. Think it might just be a coincidence that UnrealEd and Swift3D both use the .t3d file extension?
I know a lot of artists here get laid prior to doing 3D art. I'm thinking it helps with undertanding anatomy.... for models of birds that is, and maybe to an extent dinosaurs. But the best warm up is gathering good references me thinks.
I'm a little bit further on this shot. Still have some remaining areas of the scene to touch on, so I can show some more angles. Happy for the extension, thank you to the organizers for providing a bit of extra time on this one.
