Small update, started to work on the main wall piece. Combination of Clay Tubes brush and Trim Dynamic with a hard square alpha to chip away at the stones. While I elected to make the floor a single element due to its complex shape, I wanted to explore some modular design features where possible. The wall is just a simple…
I am trying just to make texture details like pebbles, crack etc being correctly sized in a scene while taking as less pixels as possible to be not too obviously repeating in every 2 meters like many Quixel materials. With a texel size around 0,5 cm per texel . Engine is a custom one for a racing game, still kind of Unreal…
Yeah, ninedegreesbelow is a good read in general, Elle Stone knows a LOT about icc profiles. It's very subjective what is the best, though I know there's painters out there who prefer working in linear because that keeps the luminosity of their colours easily in tact. Others instead have become so used to compensating for…
Hi guys ! Thx for the reply, I realize I "touch" a universe with a huge fan base and carved-in-stone codes and rules, but "Hobbiton" is just an inspiration :) I just wanted to make a nice cold / warm contrast with the christmas feeling. Honestly, I don't care if Hobbits celebrate Christmas or not, I can rename it "A…
Looks very nice. I'm not sure about the red sky/fog on the level though. The rest of the level doesn't seem to reflect it at all. Personally I'd just swap it out for a blue sky to make it more coherent and selling. Or change the lighting to reflect the dark red moody sky. Maybe there's some background story I'm missing?…
Thanks! I actually started 3D a while ago, but I realized I need to do more of it. I enjoy 2D a lot, but 3D feels more rewarding which is why I'm pushing to learn recently. Lately I've been learning vertex painting and more about modular/tiling environment pieces. My old hand painted models are really ugly looking. I…
Pretty substantial update i think. Cleaned up some of the graphics and tightened up the controls. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1451094/test6.rar Went ahead and adopted a spherical world since the game has moved away from orthographic. Has a fun mario galaxy vibe now that i'm digging. Wont really have time to tighten up the…
Hey folks! Thanks a lot to all of you - I'm super glad to see you like this little trick and find it useful. Hope to come up with more stuff like this in the future and share it with you. Vertex alpha is what you use to control your blendlayer shader in Cryengine. I used the simple moss texture blend on the rock to make…
On that picture of the model it appears that you have a fairly uniform texel density - which is good. However, the pole on the picture with the UV's look bad. Poles = Pinching = Bad The problem here isn't the UV layout but the unwrap: you need to add one or more splits to that pole in order to make the TD more uniform.…
Also counter productive. Doing such can burn one out more, because one gets in a strict mindset that one MUST do this. They inevitable push themselves too hard. In other words, ADHD specifically Autism spectrum. "Pushing" yourself to such extremes is part of the syndrome. Black and white. Fail or success. No greys or…
