Canned animations are best for cinematic, if even that. They are actually very hard to work with because it's all baked down. Code answers the small changes better than make changes then bake the animation down. Control rig may take a little bit of practice to learn but once it's figured out in the midst of everything it's…
Welcome one and all to the 96th edition of the Bi-Monthly Environment Art Challenge for the months of May and June! This challenge is a way for real-time 3D artists to test their skills and create a piece of work based on concepts provided. It's open to those of all skill levels and we do our best to provide meaningful…
This is what I really dont understand; Say I make some blocks, sculpt them into tiles like yourself, - now you say bake them onto a simple plane - i.e. same as baking a hi - low poly character; but how would it form onto a simple plane as the shape is different? Why is there no use for retop here? You said make it into a…
Hi, I was wondering how easy it is to make a fighting game in udk? I know some of the basics in udk for example cinematics, level design and some basic kismet but I have not really started making anything seriously, so I was thinking I would give a fighting game a shot because I would like to learn animation at the same…

I know! That's actually what I was saying (: Prior to this I only knew about Opacity Masks which don't do anything to geometry and thus wouldn't work. The best I could do with that method alone is stick a cylinder right where the mask is... Actually that's not the worst idea and might actually work. Might have to…
If an M4 mini stands up to a discrete desktop GPU for intensive work I'll eat my 3080 and then buy the biggest, most powerful M machine that exists. You can invent a benchmark that proves anything you want and I believe that is what you are seeing. The arm/apple architecture is Incredibly efficient but that does not equate…
Whoa, i thought you were going a different route with it when i saw the backside. If i had to say, one thing I'd say would've liked it more to see some "separation shadowing", from the metal plates. Guess i am the silly one to expect it to be a "stylized/tooned" final, did not see this one coming. And if you did try to do…
yeah if you find that diffuse isnt working as emissive just make an emissive. I personally don't like using emissive for stuff like that as it's a constant strength, I much prefer ramping up the diffuse channel which will vary in strength depending on lightmap. You could derive perhaps a better emissive texture/glow by…
Hi Aranoth! You seem to have a fairly good grasp on these questions already! With what V added, I think you've got everything you need. I would suggest you create a post in Pimping and Previews showing your early sculpted model (or even, a classic subdivision model made in C4D), try to bake this down to an appropriate…
